SESDA II and GES DISC Staff is a co-author on the report entitled "Why Ocean Colour? The Societal Benefits of Ocean-Colour Technology"

GES DISC and SESDA II staff member James Acker is a co-author on the most recent report of the International Ocean Colour Coordinating Group (IOCCG), entitled "Why Ocean Colour? The Societal Benefits of Ocean-Colour Technology". Acker is the author of Chapter 1, "Ocean Colour Radiometry and the Public", and a co-author on Chapter 6, "Hazards: Natural and Man-Made". The report was printed by the Indian Space Research Organization, ISRO. Accompanying the report is an informational brochure sponsored by the Canadian Space Agency. This brochure features the Web sites of the NASA Ocean Biology Processing Group ("Ocean Color Web"), the IOCCG, the European Space Agency, and Giovanni Ocean Color Radiometry at the GES DISC as sites which provide outstanding material for oceanographic education.
