HP022 Electronics Technician

The Electromagnetic Fields Laboratory at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD is seeking an electronics technician to support the development, testing, and calibration of sounding rocket and satellite instrumentation. This position is initially part-time (30 hours per week), with the potential of full-time contingent upon availability of funding. Must be US citizen or Permanent Resident.

Duties:
• Populate circuit boards for satellite, sounding rocket, and balloon missions
• Assemble and attach cables, D-sub connectors, power supplies, feed-through and micro-surface mount components to circuit boards for test and flight units
• Fabricate harnesses and connectors
• Operate automated electronics assembly machine
• Perform electronics board checkout and calibration
• Research and obtain quotes for laboratory equipment
• Implement laboratory safety protocols

Experience:
• 1-3 years of work experience supporting electronics projects (required)
• 1-2 years soldering experience (required)
• Familiarity with lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes)
• Design and construction of high voltage power supply housings (desired)

Education:
• Professional certifications in any of the following areas is strongly preferred: Soldering Electrical Connections; Electrostatic Discharge; and Crimp, Cable, and Harness
