We are seeking a Scientific Software Developer with 3-10 years experience to join the staff at the HEASARC (High Energy Astrophysics Science Archive Research Center, NASA/GSFC’s flagship astrophysics data archive and science support center) to support current, upcoming, and legacy high-energy astrophysics missions. The HEASARC provides several aspects of mission support, including software, data and calibration standards, processing and data archiving. Specific duties of this position include: data pipeline processing software development and support, calibration and analysis software support, maintenance of mission web pages, data ingest and archiving, maintenance of observation logs, and assisting with user support.


BS or higher in Astrophysics, Astronomy, or Physics
C/C++, Perl, and shell scripting in UNIX/Linux/Mac OSX context
Must be a U.S. citizen or have a greencard


Familiarity with Fortran and Python
Experience w/ scientific software packages (e.g. FTOOLS) and FITS data format
Experience in developing portable/multi-platform software
